Post Results From Hair Transplants

Today baldness can be solved with hair transplants surgeries. Although it is a simple surgical procedure but you better be prepared with the side effects. Below is a list of post results after the procedure which you need to know.

  1. Thinning. After the surgery, your hair will become thinner. This is a normal post-operative condition. Your hair will be thick gain after several months.
  2. Bleeding. Expect some bleeding after the transplant. You can stop the bleeding by applying some pressure ob the area. However, the bleeding may not stop. You may need to see your doctors so that they can suture the wounds.
  3. Pain. Most of times, you don't feel any pain since you will be sedated. Should there be any pain, you can take a mild pain killer for several days. This should stop the pain.
  4. Itching. You may feel itching on the donor sites and the implant sites. The itch usually go away in a few days. You can also wash your hair regularly for lesser itchiness.
  5. Swelling. The most common affected areas will be the forehead and around the eyes. The swelling usually last for a few days but it will peak on the fourth day. This may result in a black eye.
  6. Numbness. After the procedure, you may feel numbness for several weeks after the surgery but it will subside after awhile.
  7. Hiccups. Only about 5% of the patients experience hiccups which can last for several days. You may have problem eating or sleeping. Ask your doctors for some medicines to eliminate this problem.
  8. Infections. If the surgery is done properly, there should not be any infection. You will be administered with antibiotics before and after the surgery for prevention of infection.
  9. Cysts. Cysts may develop in the recipient area where the hair transplant is performed. It may last for several weeks, and is no larger than a pimple.
  10. Scarring. They easily form after the surgery if you are susceptible to keloid scarring. It is rare for the scars to look like ripples.

These side effects of hair transplants are not life threatening. They simply make your life inconvenient. Usually, most of the symptoms will subside after several days.
