The advancement of the medical technology for hair loss treatment has prompted many people to undergo hair transplants. You can tell someone with bad hair plugs because they are very obvious.
Before you proceed with the surgery, you need to know some facts about hair transplant.
A majority of men is suffering from balding issues. More than 50% men in US who are above 50 years old experience hair loss. They either shave their head completely or get hair implant. Although some may accept the fact that they will be balding for the rest of their life, but they may remain reclusive from the society even they are healthy.
Once the surgeon has performed the surgical procedure, it cannot be reversible. Being unhappy with the results cannot be resolved as simple as removing a wig. No matter how many transplantation you have, your head will not be restored to its original look. Therefore, you should not begin with a few hair grafting to see how you look like before proceeding to a complete procedure. You have to commit all the way once the grafting begins.
After the surgery, you need to rest for a few days. You don't experience any pain during the operation. But it does not mean that you can resume your daily activities. The surgery may only focus on the scalp and not the muscle or the bone. Nevertheless, you need time for the small wounds to heal and keep them from any unnecessary injury.
You need to commit time for hair restoration before you can see the full result. The treatment may take up to two years. You may have to attend many sessions. This can involve thousands of graft for each sitting in cutting down the whole treatment time. However, you must be prepared to endure the long grueling sessions.
Sometimes, the hair replacement can be combine with other methods. A normal hair regrowth surgery may not be achieved without having enough hair in the first place. If that is the case, the doctor will use other surgical procedures to achieve similar results but you may have to endure the pain.
Some of the grafts may not survive after the surgery. You wish that only a few will be lost as to not affect the overall result. But in many cases, the results are not satisfactory.
The cost of hair transplant is not expensive. You may need about $12,000 for a treatment. If you start treating it at the age of 30, the money should be enough to sustain the hair for the next 40 years. Distributing the cost over the 40 years will give you about $300 per year or $25 per month. Many of the cheap treatments cost more than $25 a month. You would save more money should you have your hair replacement surgery.
Hair transplants can be an ideal solution for baldness. However, before you consider this method, you need to check with your doctors on the causes of hair loss. If your baldness is due to genetic factor or medical conditions such as lupus and diabetic, then most likely you may not benefit from this surgery.
